The applicants are evaluated on the basis of: a) the documents presented with the application, b) an oral exam that also includes the assessment of the applicant’s knowledge of English and the discussion of a research project (written in English, max 500 words) presented with the application.The exam, which will be in English or Italian depending on the applicant’s choice.
The oral examination test for admission to the Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Mathematics, cycle XXXVIII, will be held in PRESENCE at the Meeting Room (Sala Riunioni), 7th floor of the Department of Computer Science (University Campus via E. Orabona 4, 70125, Italy) on 29 July 2022, starting at 10:30 am.
Candidates resident abroad and all candidates who demonstrate, providing adequate justification, the impossibility of being physically present at the place and date scheduled for the oral examination test, may request it will be held on-line.
To request the oral examination test on-line, you must be sent an official paper to the following addresses:

Official written requests must be received no later than 26 July at 9:00 a.m. (Central European Summer Time - Time zone in Italy GMT+2).
The online oral examination test will be done via the MICROSOFT TEAMS platform and without any slide or presentation support. Candidates will be required to install the software of the MTeams platform on their own device, and to use a webcam allowing their identification by the same document sent with the application to Ph.D.
The access codes to the platform will be sent by the Examination board to the e-mail address the candidate indicated in the application to Ph.D.
I candidati residenti o domiciliati all’estero e tutti i candidati che dimostrino, fornendone adeguata motivazione, l’impossibilità di recarsi in presenza fisica nel luogo e nella data prevista per la prova orale, potranno richiedere lo svolgimento della prova orale in via telematica.

La prova orale telematica sarà svolta in modalità audio-video condivisa tramite la piattaforma MICROSOFT TEAMS e senza l’ausilio di slides o presentazioni di alcun tipo. I candidati saranno tenuti a installare su un proprio dispositivo il software della piattaforma indicata, e dotarsi di una webcam che ne consenta l’identificazione prima della prova, e mostrando lo stesso documento allegato alla domanda. I codici di accesso alla piattaforma saranno inviati dalla commissione di esame all’indirizzo mail che il candidato ha fornito in sede di presentazione della domanda di partecipazione al concorso.

The oral exam, which includes questions on topics that are part of the courses of the bachelor degree ("laurea triennale" in Italian) in either Computer Science or Mathematics, depending on the interest of the candidate.
For the positions related to fellowships that might be offered by companies on a specific project, the candidate will be also asked questions on topics of the specific project.
