"Fault detection with mutation testing"
24 Aprile 2013
Abstract.
Mutation testing is a very powerful testing technique that, traditionally, has been applied by researchers and with research purposes. Testing systems with mutation involves three very costly steps (mutant generation, test case execution and result analysis). These high costs have been the main obstacle for the adoption of mutation in industry. Thanks to the efforts made in the last years, researchers have got a number of techniques to make mutation testing cheaper and, thus, nowadays it can be used at industrial level. This talk introduces the main concepts of mutation, makes an overview of some cost-reduction techniques and will give a brief description of Bacterio, a tool developed at the University of Castilla-La Mancha for mutation testing of Java programs at industrial level.

Abstract.
