Admission exam First CALL
- Admission exam for graduates at Italian and foreign Universities
The applicants are evaluated on the basis of: a) the documents presented with the application, b) an oral exam that also includes the assessment of the applicant’s knowledge of English and the discussion of a research project (written in English, max 500 words) presented with the application.The exam, which will be in English or Italian depending on the applicant’s choice.

Candidates who have requested - in the manner and by the specified deadline - the online evaluation test have been added to the MTeam group.
The candidates will be examined in alphabetical order, starting with persons present in the examination venue and continuing with the remote candidates on MTeams.
- Admission exam date and time:
The oral examination test for admission to the Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Mathematics, cycle XXXVIII, will be held in PRESENCE at the Meeting Room (Sala Riunioni), 7th floor of the Department of Computer Science (University Campus via E. Orabona 4, 70125, Italy) on 29 July 2022, starting at 10:30 am.
Candidates resident abroad and all candidates who demonstrate, providing adequate justification, the impossibility of being physically present at the place and date scheduled for the oral examination test, may request it will be held on-line.
To request the oral examination test on-line, you must be sent an official paper to the following addresses:

Official written requests must be received no later than 26 July at 9:00 a.m. (Central European Summer Time - Time zone in Italy GMT+2).
The online oral examination test will be done via the MICROSOFT TEAMS platform and without any slide or presentation support. Candidates will be required to install the software of the MTeams platform on their own device, and to use a webcam allowing their identification by the same document sent with the application to Ph.D.
The access codes to the platform will be sent by the Examination board to the e-mail address the candidate indicated in the application to Ph.D.

Evaluation criteria of the oral test for admission to the PhD in Computer Science and Mathematics.The oral test will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
- knowledge of the topics covered by the extracted question;
- capability to analyze and summarise;
- clarity of presentation.The oral examination will begin on 29 July 2022, at 10:30 a.m. (Central European Summer Time - Italian time zone GMT+2) with the identification of all candidates. After identification, each candidate will be examined in alphabetical order (first, the candidates present in the place the exam is scheduled. and then the candidates who have submitted a motivated request to take the test online). -
PROVA ORALE (RISULTATI DELLA PROVA ORALE)Si ricorda che la prova orale avrà luogo il giorno 29 luglio 2022 in PRESENZA presso la sala consiglio del Dipartimento di Informatica alle ore 10:30 am (GMT +2) con il riconoscimento di tutti i candidati.
I candidati che hanno richiesto - nelle modalità e nei tempi previsti dal bando- la prova in remoto, sono stati aggiunti al gruppo di MTeam.
I candidati saranno esaminati in ordine alfabetico a partire dalle persone presenti nel luogo di esame e continuando con i candidati in remoto su MTeams.Esame di ammissioneLa prova orale del concorso di ammissione al dottorato in Informatica e Matematica, ciclo XXXVIII si svolgerà in PRESENZA presso la Sala Riunioni, settimo piano del Dipartimento di Informatica (Campus Universitario via E. I candidati residenti o domiciliati all’estero e tutti i candidati che dimostrino, fornendone adeguata motivazione, l’impossibilità di recarsi in presenza fisica nel luogo e nella data prevista per la prova orale, potranno richiedere lo svolgimento della prova orale in via telematica.
L’istanza di richiesta di svolgimento della prova orale per via telematica deve essere trasmessa per iscritto agli indirizzi:

Le richieste dovranno pervenire entro e non oltre il giorno 26 luglio ore 9:00 a.m. (Central European Summer Time - Time zone in Italy GMT+2).
La prova orale telematica sarà svolta in modalità audio-video condivisa tramite la piattaforma MICROSOFT TEAMS e senza l’ausilio di slides o presentazioni di alcun tipo. I candidati saranno tenuti a installare su un proprio dispositivo il software della piattaforma indicata, e dotarsi di una webcam che ne consenta l’identificazione prima della prova, e mostrando lo stesso documento allegato alla domanda. I codici di accesso alla piattaforma saranno inviati dalla commissione di esame all’indirizzo mail che il candidato ha fornito in sede di presentazione della domanda di partecipazione al concorso.

Criteri di Valutazione della prova orale per l'ammissione al dottorato in Informatica e Matematica.La prova orale sarà valutata in base ai seguenti criteri:
• conoscenza delle tematiche oggetto del quesito proposto;
• capacità di analisi e sintesi;
• chiarezza espositiva.
L'esame orale inizierà il 29 luglio 2022, alle ore 10:30 (ora legale dell'Europa centrale - fuso orario italiano GMT+2) con l'identificazione di tutti i candidati. Dopo l'identificazione, si procederà con l'esame di ciascun candidato in ordine alfabetico (preliminarmente i candidati presenti e successivamente i candidati che hanno presentato richiesta (adeguatamente motivata) di svolgere la prova in remoto).
- The admission exam has to achieve two main goals:
1. to test the competence of the candidate in a number of areas of either Computer Science or Mathematics
2. to evaluate the attitude and the potential of the candidate in carrying on research.
The oral exam, which includes questions on topics that are part of the courses of the bachelor degree ("laurea triennale" in Italian) in either Computer Science or Mathematics, depending on the interest of the candidate.
For the positions related to fellowships that might be offered by companies on a specific project, the candidate will be also asked questions on topics of the specific project.
